HUAWEI P50 Pro Test (See Our Test Results)

Those who believed that the Huawei will put a brake on innovative proposals in the category of flagship mobile will probably be surprises…

The family P Series Huawei is distinguished by an enviable path in the space of a premium smartphone, raising the bar of photography via a mobile ever higher with each of the state. What if she broke up the streets of the Google, what if Google Play and the Google Mobile Services replaced the AppGallery and Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), the flagship P series continues to be a “banner” of innovation. Across the large group of consumers mounting the photographic qualities at the top of the list of criteria when making market research a smartphone, the P50 Pro lining up a highly attractive “back”, where the new True-Form Dual-Matrix Camera Design shout from the rooftops that Huawei continues to produce excellent comfort, cutting-edge cameras. For testing we received the “Cocoa Golden hue, but for the more “traditional” and there’s the “Golden Black” color. In both cases, the bilateral curved screen, the aluminum chassis and the glass back and forth emphasise the first-class DNA is resistant against water and dust cell (it has IP68 certification).

Without 5G but with a camera… OMG!

Obeying the restrictions imposed on it, the Huawei releases the flagship with a 4G version of the Snapdragon 888, a 5nm chipset with eight Kryo 680 cores and a powerful GPU, the Adreno 660. The absence, however, of the 5G connectivity “golden” and above the quadruple camera P50 Pro. At a time when the market for smartphones “rehashing” mostly last year and προπέρσινες technologies around the cameras of mobile, the Huawei comes with a subversive proposal. The quadruple camera, so, is composed by a dream team of imposing lens and sensor, leaving aside the petty macro lenses and conventional sensors depth. In the case of the P50 Pro when we say quadruple camera is a dual camera with a backup sensor, and an unnecessary lens for close-ups, but a setup where each “hole” to download light offers essential amenities and unique features. Because if it is not possessed by someone special artistic oeuvre, is incomparably more likely to be asked to photograph them by making use of optical zoom (for example, a child who participate in a show or a sporting event, several meters away from your location), rather than a… cyclamen by 4 inches! You don’t say it’s convenient for the macro camera for those who can’t easily distinguish the “nits” which are listed on a charger, but somewhere there running out of usefulness. On the contrary, the 3.5 x optical zoom and up to 7x lossless digital zoom periscope telephoto of P50 Pro proved to be a lifesaver during the period of our test in a multitude of circumstances. Apart from a periscope telephoto lens with a 64MP sensor, at our disposal, we had a 50MP sensor with a wide-angle lens, aperture f/1.8 and features PDAF, Laser AutoFocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS). At his side, the B&W monochrome camera of 40MP with the possibility of AutoFocus enhances the sharpness of the image and the remarkable result, even under adverse conditions. The foursome completes a 13MP sensor with ultra-wide lens 13mm, aperture f/2.2 with AutoFocus, which can work as ultra-macro lens when the subject is located at a distance of 2.5 cm. It is worth noting that the transition from one lens to another, and from one zoom level to the next is made with ultra smooth way in real-time. At the same time, the Huawei XD Fusion Pro image engine and the Huawei XD Optics ensure a final result that is unprecedented.

Regarding the video, the P50 Pro can record a picture in 4K resolution with 60 frames per second. Amazing results it offers, and downloading the video in slow motion (1080p@960fps). In front of us waiting for a ultra wide-angle lens with a field of view of 100 degrees, in order to record the 13MP sensor not only you, but also the place that hosts us. It features auto focus, support HDR, and can grab 4K videos at 30fps or Full-HD video at 30, 60 or 240fps.

Premium screen and charging in no time!

From the rest of the features of the flagship smartphone of Huawei, we are the curvilinear 6,6 inch OLED screen, which covers the entire color spectrum of P3. The palette includes 1,07 billion colors which claim their place in the 2.700×1.228 pixels of the panel. The dynamic refresh rate can reach up to 120Hz. The 300Hz touch sampling rate promise direct recording every touch from the touch surface of the screen. Enhanced is and the brightness in relation to the ancestor of this model, the P40 Pro, with the result that the content the screen is easily discernible even with the summer sun over our heads!

The battery of 4.360 mAh may not seem as something new and it falls short of the capacity that we had been accustomed to up until today, the company, the charger SuperCharge 66W, however, that we found in the package promises lightning-fast charging, in the order of 75% in a half hour. Respectively fast and wireless charging, the 50W.

For the end we left a still resounding victory of Huawei, the amazing dual stereo speakers. It is a listening experience that you will hardly find in any other portable device.

We liked

  • Once again, the Huawei “teaches” the photo!
  • Ταχυφορτιστής 66W in the packaging and support 50W wireless charging
  • OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz
  • Stereo speakers excellent quality

We didn’t like

  • He deserved Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 5G and Google Play
  • We expected a larger capacity battery
